Interactive Media (formerly Multimedia)

Bradley’s Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts offers an undergraduate curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Interactive Media. The Interactive Media program maintains a strong focus on creative and conceptual problem-solving in the authoring of material for aspiring new-media professionals and a sound theoretical framework.  Interactive Media is text, audio, video, illustration, photography and animation assembled in a non-linear, interactive format for delivery on the Internet, on digital media, or within informational kiosks and other presentation formats.

The Interactive Media Program works closely with the Departments of Art, Computer Science, and Theatre to provide our students a well rounded curriculum through interdisciplinary majors, minors, and coursework.
Interactive Media majors must complete all core coursework, additional required courses, and one area of specialization.

Animation and Visual Effects Specialization
The Animation and Visual Effects specialization focuses on elements of interactive media that include storytelling, motion graphics, narrative, interactive performance, cinematography, and animation. This area is both artistic and technical in nature. It includes the critical area of digital storytelling, the most important element in capturing and retaining the attention of the audience using high quality design and production techniques.

Game Design Specialization
The Game Design specialization focuses on the development of games, including gameplay, storytelling and concepting, visual and audio media, and team work among artists, programmers, and storytellers.

With the explosion of growth in the game industry, this specialization will allow students to develop skills in the growing field of both traditional games and non-traditional interactive design. Additionally, the specialization provides the opportunities for students to take game programming courses to satisfy specialization requirements. The flexibility in this specialization provides a flexible model that is one of the first of its kind in the country.

Web and Application Design Specialization
The Web and Application Design specialization focuses on user-based artistic design, interactive design, and human computer interactions in both websites and applications. This concentration enables students to sharpen their skills and abilities in designing visually appealing layouts, modern design techniques, and techniques using state-of-the-art equipment.

Rapidly changing technologies require students to learn both current techniques for traditional platforms and critical design skills for systems on emerging platforms.
