The Degree in Accounting
Bradley’s Department of Accounting prepares students for satisfying and rewarding careers in accounting, finance, and other business related fields. Bradley has earned the recognition of receiving accreditation in the AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), making Bradley one of three private schools in Illinois to hold this official recognition. AACSB accreditation assures that the school is committed to continuous improvement and quality in the areas of Accounting and Business Management.

Curriculum
Bradley’s curriculum will prepare graduates to sit for the three certification exams for accountants:

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • CMA (Certified Management Accountant)
  • CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)

In addition to the traditional undergraduate program, Bradley offers the Integrated 3:2 Program, which is designed for students who want to earn both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting. Successful applicants are guaranteed admission to the Master of Science in Accounting Program.

Opportunities at Bradley
Students in Bradley’s accounting program are heavily recruited. Some of the organizations who seek Bradley students for full-time employment and internships include:

  • national public accounting firms such as “Big Four” firms Deloitte & Touche and Clifton Gunderson
  • regional and local public accounting firms such as Heinhold Banwart, and Martin & Shadid
  • Fortune 500 corporations such as Caterpillar and Archer Daniels Midland

On campus, Beta Alpha Psi, the national honorary accounting honor fraternity, is available to all accounting majors. The fraternity strives to promote scholastic and professional achievement through lectures, career-oriented events, guest lectures, and campus and community service projects and social activities, including:

  • volunteering for Share Foods, a not-for-profit organization that distributes fresh food
  • the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, where each year members help low-income clients prepare their taxes

Recognized for its service, Bradley’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi has been ranked as “Superior” since 1998 and was designated “Most Improved in the Nation” in 1997.

Beyond Bradley
Graduates of the program enjoy comfortable salaries in many of the top accounting firms. Many accounting majors have jobs before graduation. One alum started his own banking business that has grown to $100 million in assets in three years. For recent graduates, starting salaries close to $50,000 were not unusual. Some of the organizations who employ Bradley graduates include:

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers
  • Virchow Krause
  • State Farm
  • Accenture
  • Hewitt
