Bradley at a Glance: The Guidebooks

In America's Best Colleges 2008, U.S.News & World Report recognized Bradley as the top Illinois university of its type and number six overall among 70 Midwest universities providing a full range of undergraduate and master's programs and few, if any, doctoral programs. Additionally, U.S.News & World Report has ranked Bradley among the top 20 engineering programs in the country whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's.

U.S. News also recognizes Bradley as a “Best Value.” Bradley is ranked second among “Best Values” in the Midwest using a formula which takes into consideration a school's academic quality, as indicated by its U.S.News ranking, and the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of financial assistance.

Several engineering departments were singled out for excellence among universities whose highest engineering degree awarded is a bachelor's or master’s. In this group, Bradley's Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Technology ranked third, Civil Engineering and Construction ranked seventh, and the Mechanical Engineering program ranked 10th.

The Princeton Review

Again this year, Bradley was included in The Princeton Review's The Best 366 Colleges. The Princeton Review uses current student observations to describe the university.  Students in the most recent edition noted that Bradley offers, “the variety and opportunities of a large school with the personal interaction that only a small university can offer…Bradley university is the ‘perfect size’, a place large enough to provide students with a variety of choices but small enough that there is not much difficulty getting into the classes that you want to take.”

Petersons 440 Colleges for Top Students selects Bradley from a group of more than 3,600 colleges and universities that "attract and admit an above-average share of the nation's high achieving students."

Petersons

Colleges of Distinction includes Bradley among a group of colleges that are known more for their quality than for their name recognition. This college guide selects colleges that have an excellent reputation among high school guidance counselors and education professionals, not to mention employers and graduate schools. Colleges of Distinction notes that "Bradley balances a wide variety of academic choice with small classes; hundreds of student organizations with a close-knit student community; and nationally-recognized faculty who focus on teaching."
