…climb. One of my favorite things to do is to rock climb. I found out that one of my professors also likes to climb. It's cool to see how people are outside of school. You can only get to know someone so well in math class. I've really gotten to know my professors outside of the classroom — and they know me.
I've gotten so much help from my professors, like how to apply to graduate school. Grad school is really an unknown. Not only did they (my professors) help me to fill out my applications, and provided me with excellent letters of recommendation, but they encouraged me to do further research to enhance my application. If I had gone to a larger school, I wouldn't have made the relationships with my professors.
You can get to know someone pretty well in an Algebra class. My favorite class this semester is Modern Algebra II. I have this class with only one other student, and we meet in a room with our professor. The other student and I collaborate on each math problem. Our professor helps us and challenges us until we get the answer. It truly is the Socratic method of teaching, and I love it. It is less busy work and more learning than I have ever had in any class. |
